This week in Literacy we began practising our poem that we want to perform for the poetry competition.

We chose ‘Listen’ by Tony Langham.

We decide that for good performance poetry we would need:

To use our voice creatively

To use facial expressions

To use actions

To use soud effects

To use repetition

Here we are practising

On Friday we will perform to Mr Sieczkarek and compete against Amber, Aquamarine and Sapphire class. Fingers crossed we do well!

This week we have been learning about the The Sheffield Flood of 1864 or as it is sometimes called’ The Dale Dyke Dam Disaster’.

We wrote some headlines and captions to describe the news story.

Then we wrote a news report which detailed the events of that fateful night on 12th March 1864.
