Investigating the Area of Shapes in Math

This week the children of Jade class have had their detective hats on as they have been using physical resources to investigate the area of shapes.

We have learned the importance of square units when measuring area inside a 2D shape and children were able to discover that they can easily find the area by multiplying the length x width of a shape. Their ability to investigate and make connections to prior learning is amazing.

Looping Music to Represent the Rainforest

Today Jade class continued their musical education by creating melodic loops to represent the rainforest. What was amazing about todays work in particular was how the groups worked together to build on prior learning.

The students all collaborated to create structure and texture to their pieces ensuring everyone was involved.
